Olympia - where is all began
Olympia is not fiction - its a real place where all the people from ancient world assembled. You can go there and look - its there, thousands of years old.
It a place in quite desert mountains. This place is known thanks to the Games taking place there. And that is why it is interesting to discover and understand what was important.
Olympia was first a sanctuary, not a town or city. The sanctuary located in the Peloponnese is bounded by the river Alpheus and lies at the foot of Mount Kronion. At the center of the sanctuary was the stadium. Olympia hosted the Games, but they were just one aspect of worship dedicated to the oracle of Olympian Zeus. Thanks in part to the cult of the father and master of the gods that the Games became known. In addition Olympia, its ancient history, is very important and the rivalry that caused its importance.

Olympia is a sanctuary. So it’s the place where the religious staff meets and lives. No other staff has the right to stay as normal. Besides the stadium and sports buildings lay a little left out. The main temple is dedicated to Zeus, the father of all Greek gods. This temple is huge. It measures about 65m long and 25m wide. Needless to say that at the time, the Greeks were already very good artists and that this temple is one of the most beautiful of the time. The temple hosts one of the seven ancient wonders of the world: the statue Chryselephantine sculpture.
